At present, in the work activity of the Department are involved: Ion Bahnarel – Head of Department, Professor, PhD in medical sciences; Gheorghe Ostrofet – Professor, PhD in medical sciences; Ovidiu Tafuni, Aliona Tihon, Catalina Croitoru, Elena Ciobanu – lecturers, doctors in medical sciences; Natalia Bivol, Alexandru Garbuz, Radu Rusu, Olga Cernelev – assistants.
- Year 2010
From 2010 to present, head of the Department of General Hygiene is Ion Bahnarel, PhD in medical sciences, Professor, Emeritus of the Republic of Moldova, President of the Scientific Society of Hygienists from the Republic of Moldova. Ion Bahnarel is a scientific adviser and consultant of one thesis of PhD in medical sciences and 10 thesis of Doctor in medical sciences, of which 6 were supported. The new departments of activity are: hygiene of human habitat, ionizing radiation hygiene, hygiene of non-ionizing radiation, hygiene in optometry, hygiene of public health emergencies, chemical hygiene and toxicology, nutrition.
- Year 1994
In 1994, the Nr.1 and Nr.2 chairs merged again, thus being created the General Hygiene Chair within the General Medicine Faculty, headed by lecturer Gheorghe Ostrofet who defended his thesis of PhD in medical sciences and created a new scientific school in 2000 – Study of professional pathologies in women working at video terminals in the main telecommunications branches. He also was mentor of four doctor’s theses in medical sciences.
- Year 1979
In 1979, the chairs merged and they were managed by Associate Professor Henrieta Rudi. Associate Professor, Henrieta Rudi, led the training of two PhD theses in medical sciences and two theses of Doctor of Medical Sciences. In 1992, the General Hygiene chair was divided again. The first Hygiene Chair was managed by Associate Professor Henrieta Rudi, ensuring teaching of General Hygiene for students of General Medicine and Pharmacy faculties. The second Chair was led by lecturer, Doctor of medical sciences Gheorghe Ostrofet, who taught Hygiene for students of the Preventive Medicine faculty.
- Year 1960
The position of the head of the chair was taken over by Professor Iacov Reznik (1960-1979). Professor I. Reznik also held the position of Chairman of Moldovan Scientific Society of Hygienists and was member of Society of Hygienists from the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), Associate Professor, Professor Emeritus of Republic of Moldova. Scientist Jacob Reznic has developed a new scientific school in the Republic of Moldova - Labor hygiene in agriculture and pesticide toxicology. In 1975, the General Hygiene Department was divided. One of the two chairs which was led by Associate Professor Henrieta Rudi, was designed for students of faculties of General Medicine, Stomatology and Pharmacy, the other one was headed by Associate Professor Iacov Reznik – for students of faculties of Preventive Medicine and Pediatrics. In 1979 these two departments were merged. Professor Iacov Reznic headed 15 theses of Doctor of Medical Sciences and a PhD thesis in medical sciences.

From 1957 until 1960 the position of head of the chair was held by the university lecturer and professor Alexandru Zorin.
- Year 1945
General Hygiene Department was founded in 1945 and the first Head of the Department was Professor Emeritus, PhD in medicine, H. Nicogosian. He headed the Department from its foundation until 1957.
